Delete your account

Last updated October 3, 2026

You can delete your Glimpsing account and everything you posted at any time, from the app or by asking us. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

In the app

  1. Open Glimpsing and tap the Profile tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account. (It's also under Profile → Your data → Delete my account.)
  3. Type DELETE and tap Delete my account forever.

This works the same on iPhone and Android, including for guest accounts.

If you no longer have the app, you can install it on any phone, sign in the way you did before (Apple, Google or your phone number), and follow the steps above.

Without the app

Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account". To make sure only you can delete your account:

  • Signed in with Apple or Google? Send the email from the email address on your Glimpsing account. If you used Hide My Email with Apple, tell us and we'll find another way to confirm it's you.
  • Signed in with your phone number? Include the number. We'll send a 6-digit code to it on WhatsApp; reply with the code.

We delete the account once we've confirmed it's yours, usually within two working days, and email you when it's done. We never ask for a password.

What gets deleted

  • Your profile: name, photo, phone number, email and sign-in methods. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also tell Apple to disconnect Glimpsing.
  • Every Glimpse, voice note, reply and reaction you posted, in every group, and the photos and videos themselves.
  • Your Vault and everything in it.
  • Your avatar, stickers and any face scan photos, and your Screen + me recordings.
  • Your streaks, freezes, restores, game entries, Strict Mode settings, notifications and invites.
  • Your place in every group. Groups that only you are in, and your 1:1s, are deleted. A group you created that has other members passes to the person who's been in it longest.
  • Family profiles you manage, and everything posted for them.
  • Data held for us by our analytics, push notification and subscription providers. We ask each of them to delete it.

Glimpses other people posted stay with them, including ones in groups you were in.

When

Right away. There's no waiting period, and a deleted account can't be restored. Your photos and videos are removed from our storage at the same moment.

Our requests to our service providers go out within minutes. They finish deleting within 30 days. Copies in our encrypted database backups drop out as those backups are replaced on their regular cycle.

What we keep

  • Child safety. If something you posted was reported as child sexual abuse material, we keep a secured copy and the account details needed to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), for as long as the law requires. See our child safety standards.
  • Bans. If the account was banned, we keep a scrambled fingerprint of its sign-in details (never the details themselves) so it can't sign up again.
  • Reports. Reports you filed stay so we can finish acting on them. They no longer point to an account.
  • Purchase records. Our log of store purchase events, which holds a product, a date and an internal id but no name or payment details, is kept for up to 90 days. The App Store and Google Play keep their own records of your purchases, as their policies and the law require.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a Premium or storage subscription: the App Store or Google Play bills it, not us. Cancel it first.

  • iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Glimpsing.
  • Android: Google Play → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Glimpsing.

Delete some data, keep your account

You don't have to delete your account to delete things in it. Each of these takes effect right away, for everyone who could see it.

  • A Glimpse or voice note you posted: open it, tap ⋯ (More options), then Delete. Its photo, video or audio is deleted from our storage, along with its caption, transcript and location stamp. If you sent it to several groups, delete it in each one. To clear many at once: Profile → Storage, pick the Glimpses and delete them.
  • A reaction: open the Glimpse and tap your reaction again to take it back.
  • Vault items: Profile → The Vault, unlock it, open an item and tap Delete, or select several and tap Delete.
  • Your avatar and stickers: on the Profile tab, tap Remove on your avatar card. Stickers already on posts stay on those posts until the posts are deleted. Face scan photos are never kept: they're deleted as soon as your avatar is drawn.
  • A family profile: Profile → Family profiles, tap the profile, then Remove profile. This deletes the profile and every Glimpse posted as them.
  • Your birthday: Profile → Edit profile → Birthday → Remove birthday. To keep it but hide it, use Profile → Privacy → Hide my birthday.
  • A group you created: open the group's settings and tap Delete group. This removes every Glimpse in it for everyone.
  • Contacts: we never store your contacts. Contact matching sends one-way hashes of phone numbers only while you're finding people, and keeps nothing. To stop it, turn off Contacts access for Glimpsing in your phone's settings.
  • Location stamps: Profile → Privacy → turn off Show my city on Glimpses. Deleting a Glimpse deletes its stamp.

Can't open the app, or want something deleted that isn't listed here, such as a private reply? Email [email protected] from the email address on your account (or include your phone number and we'll confirm with a code, as above) and tell us what to delete. We'll confirm when it's done.

Questions: [email protected]. See also our Privacy Policy.
